Bio:

My name is Tyler Courtemanche, and I am 18 years old. I was raised and graduated from Skowhegan, Maine and have now moved on to Orono to study New Media. Back home, I have my mom, my dad, and my younger brother Joshua. My brother Daniel is in Massachusetts to study law school, while my other brother Nicholas is in Bangor to study occupational therapy. I am known to be an extreme video gamer. I practically grew up with Sonic the Hedgehog, which still increases my desire for video games. During high school, I videotaped the Field Hockey and Girls' Basketball teams at my school. I am known to be clever, gifted, and talented, but modest. I am not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but I am someone who's extremely loyal to friends I make and expect the same loyalty in return.

Creative Statement:

I’m studying New Media because I hope to someday become a video game designer. I grew a great love for video games early on, especially for certain franchises like Halo and Sonic. Later on, I started noticing what makes a good game or not. As I looked into it more, I grew more interested in the behind the scenes and drew towards the designers of these great games. So, when I made it to high school, I signed on to a vocational class and started learning the ropes. I learned 3D animation using 3DMax as well as 2D animation and game design using Adobe Flash. While I’m here at Orono, I hope to build on these skills. That way when I graduate companies like Sega or Nintendo can notice me and get to work quickly.
